Martijn Veldhoen, born in Amsterdam in 1962, studied painting at the Rietveld Academy in his hometown. From 1986 onward, he became actively involved in a range of interdisciplinary projects. In 1993, he began working with video, presenting his first video installations at Montevideo Gallery (now known as LIMA, formerly the Netherlands Media Art Institute).

Between 2000 and 2003, Veldhoen completed several large-scale media art commissions, including projects for the Ministry of Transport, Public Works and Water Management. His work has been acquired by various corporate and private collectors, including ABN AMRO Bank.

Veldhoen’s video installations and films have twice been nominated for a Golden Calf at the Netherlands Film Festival in Utrecht, and have received multiple international awards at various festivals and exhibitions.
